Divide that battery time

What is the biggest issue with having a mobile phone with music playing functionality ( ROKR anyone?)? Leave the interface and software integration aspect. If I am jogging and listening to music from my phone and run out of battery, I am unable to make a phone call (if I lose my way for example!)! That according to me is simply unacceptable. On the other hand if my iPod runs out of battery while jogging I wouldn’t really care.

According to me the only way multi-function devices will become popular if the user is able to define which applications are “critical” and be able to de-activate apps like music when the battery time left for phone calls is say less than 30 minutes. Are there any devices out there which offer this functionality ?

  • I agree, Mr. Chachra. Surely cellphone makers will catch onto it, but the question is how long it'll take them. Would Apple get a head start again? I use a 6620 as a phone and my (makeshift) portable mp3 player and I'd pondered about the same as well.
